Behind the Scenes: Organising the Bitton French Markets
At ili the studio, we believe that events are more than dates on a calendar, they’re experiences that connect people, tell stories, and create memories. One of our proudest recent projects was the Bitton French Market in Rose Bay, where we handled everything from concept to execution.
This event wasn’t just about shopping, it was about celebrating French culture, supporting local brands, and bringing the community together in a warm, authentic setting.
From Concept to Community
When we created the French-inspired market at their Rose Bay venue, we knew it was the perfect opportunity to merge gastronomy, creativity, and community. Our goal: to design a boutique market that reflected Bitton’s French-Australian heritage and its role as a community hub.
Our Role in the Event
Organising the Bitton French Market meant taking care of every detail—big and small. Here’s how ili the studio brought it all to life:
1. Curating Local Stalls
We sourced and secured a selection of local artisans and businesses, from jewellery and pottery makers to French-inspired homeware and gourmet brands. Each stall was chosen to create variety while staying true to the market’s French flair.
2. Event Run Sheet
Every successful event needs structure. We prepared a comprehensive run sheet covering setup, stallholder logistics, timings for food offerings, entertainment flow, and staff responsibilities. This ensured everything ran seamlessly on the day.
3. On-Site Branding & Signage
To create a cohesive atmosphere, we designed and produced event signage—directional boards, menus, stall markers, and decorative elements that tied everything back to the French-inspired theme.
4. Digital Communication
Promotion was key to attracting the right crowd. We handled the entire digital marketing campaign, which included:
• EDM Campaigns: targeted newsletters to Bitton’s community, with French-inspired visuals and playful copy.
• Social Media Strategy: posts, reels, and stories across Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn with a warm, cheeky, French tone of voice.
• Community Engagement: encouraging locals to share their experiences online, expanding the market’s reach organically.
5. On-the-Day Coordination
Our team was on-site to manage the event flow, support stallholders, and ensure visitors had a seamless and memorable experience.
Wearing two hats: organiser & stallholder
Beyond organising the event, I also joined the market personally with my creative brand, ili ink. As a minimalist illustrator, I offered customised digital artworks on the spot—capturing families, couples, and even furry friends with simple yet emotive line illustrations.
Being both an organiser and a stallholder was a rewarding experience: I could see firsthand how visitors engaged with the market while also sharing my passion for art and storytelling. It was a beautiful reminder of why community events matter, bringing together food, creativity, and connection in one place.
Why the Market was a success
The Bitton French Market was a true celebration of culture and community. Locals enjoyed delicious French-inspired treats, and Bitton’s signature gourmet products, while discovering new artisans and brands. The atmosphere was buzzing, friendly, and distinctly à la française.
Most importantly, the event strengthened Bitton’s role as a community hub, while also giving visibility to talented local makers, including myself through ili ink.
